SIGMOD 2026 Call for Demonstration Proposals
The SIGMOD demonstration program has become an important venue for sharing cutting-edge data management system prototypes (software, hardware, both) with the greater SIGMOD community. The emphasis of the program is on visionary next generation systems requiring significant research and development effort. Such demonstration papers are expected to focus on data-intensive components of data science pipelines and solve problems in areas of interest to the community, e.g., data curation, optimization, performance, storage, systems. We solicit demonstration proposals that are inspired by real applications and showcase the most exciting new data management and data science & engineering technologies.
As introduced last year, we are additionally soliciting demonstrations focused on industrial applications. We are especially encouraging companies to submit demonstration proposals to highlight new technical features or research deployed in industry. Such proposals may highlight features or capabilities of existing products, but should also enhance the audience’s understanding of the underlying technology. The requirement for enhancing the audience’s understanding of the underlying technology will be a core consideration of acceptance. For industry demonstrations, please postfix your title with "[Industry]" for the submission only (not for the camera ready).
Selection Criteria
Selection of demonstrations for presentation at SIGMOD is highly competitive. The evaluation criteria include both the audience experience and the novelty of the system. The proposal should also describe in detail what SIGMOD attendees who view the demonstration will experience:
- What exactly will the audience see?
- Will they be able to interact with the system?
- Is there an interesting scenario or script that the demonstrators will use to motivate the demonstration?
During the conference, one of the demonstrations will be selected to receive a Best Demo award.
Authors should include a description of the novel intellectual content of the proposed system and of its architecture, along with a description of the target user(s), use-case(s), scenario(s) to demonstrate the user experience and key functionalities. The demonstration proposal must include citations of the most relevant papers about the proposed system, and any previous publications related to the presented system. Priority will be given to systems that have never been demonstrated before. The optional video will also be used in the selection process.
Optional Video
We allow authors to optionally include a short video (up to 5 minutes) of their demonstration to clearly illustrate the user experience. The video should illustrate a good walkthrough of a use-case for the intended target user. Either in the video or in the paper authors should clearly indicate which part of the prototype is already implemented and which functionalities are to be implemented in the final submission. The video should be hosted and the URL should be linked in both the CMT abstract and in the paper. Authors will be allowed to revise their video for the camera ready.
While the submission of a video is not required, we highly encourage authors to use this chance to showcase their system to the reviewers. The video can also be made part of the permanent artifact in ACM digital library as part of the camera ready submission process.
Format
In addition to the video described above, each demonstration proposal is to be submitted as a single PDF file and it must be no more than FOUR US letter (8.5'' x 11'') pages in length. This page limit includes all parts of a proposal: title, abstract, body, and bibliography. The camera-ready of an accepted proposal must observe the same page limit. Demonstration proposals must follow the ACM Proceedings Format, using either the sample-sigconf.tex or ACM_SigConf.docx template provided at https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template for LaTeX (version 2e) or Word, respectively. Note that the font size has to be changed to 9 pts (this is done via \documentclass[sigconf,9pt]{acmart} in Latex). The margins, inter-column spacing, and line spacing in the templates must be kept unchanged. Please make sure you are using the latest version of the ACM template. Any submitted paper violating the length, file type, or formatting requirements will be rejected without review.

Submissions to the demonstration track are NOT subject to double blind reviewing. The author name(s) and affiliation(s) must be present in the submitted document. Accepted proposals will appear in the final proceedings.
